The upcoming summer promises to be a criticial one for Real Madrid following how things have gone for them in the ongoing campaign.
Even though the Merengues won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, they have missed out the major trophies – with Barcelona knocking them out of the La Liga title race and beating them in the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup finals.
Naturally, some major changes are set to take place, starting with the imminent departure of Carlo Ancelotti and the impending arrival of Xabi Alonso.
New signings are also on the horizon, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to join on a free transfer in the coming days.
As such, Fabrizio Romano now confirms that Real Madrid will bid goodbye to veteran star Lucas Vazquez this summer, potentially after the FIFA Club World Cup.

Vazquez has spent 18 years at the club, having joined the Real Madrid academy all the way back in 2007. It was in 2015 that he made his first-team breakthrough and the 33-year-old has stayed an important part of the setup ever since.
A four-time La Liga champion and a five-time UEFA Champions League winner, Vazquez transformed from a winger to a right-back in recent seasons and has been largely reliable, although his performances have been a letdown this season.
With Alexander-Arnold set to arrive and Dani Carvajal also closing in on a return from his long-term injury absence, Vazquez no longer has a place in the squad.
Currently injured, the 33-year-old Spaniard’s contract expires on June 30, but there is an agreement for him to play for Real Madrid until the end of the Club World Cup in July, following which the veteran defender will go his separate ways.
