Milan star Theo Hernandez could return to Real Madrid this summer after Los Blancos identified him as a concrete target. According to Spanish outlet AS via Calciomercato, the reigning La Liga holders are keen to re-sign the French left-back at a ‘bargain price.’

Hernandez’s deal at Stadio San Siro is due to expire in 2026. Despite long-standing extension talks, the 27-year-old has yet to pledge his long-term future to Milan. However, Sergio Conceicao’s men remain hopeful of convincing their highly-rated ace to commit his loyalty to the club.

Talks are proceeding in good faith. Indeed, Hernandez has never expressed a desire to leave Milan. Yet, a lack of Champions League football could change his mind. Furthermore, he has been at loggerheads with the Rossoneri this season.

After a strained relationship with former Milan boss Paulo Fonseca, Hernandez has recovered part of his former glory under Conceicao. Rafael Leao’s uncertain future at the San Siro is another sticking point, considering the duo have developed a unique on-field understanding.

Aware of the situation, Real Madrid could try to bring Hernandez back to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the coming months. Carlo Ancelotti’s side sold the France international to Milan in the summer of 2019 for a reported fee of €20 million.

Despite Hernandez’s rise to stardom at Milan over the past six years, Los Merengues hope to lure him back for the same price. Confidence comes from the player’s contractual wobble, yet things could change if he agrees to pen a new deal before June.
