As reported by L’Équipe at the start of December, Mahamadou Diawara (19) wants to leave Olympique Lyonnais this January. He has made just four first-team appearances all season, registering a meagre 37 minutes of football. Foot Mercato now understands that the France youth international has the possibility to leave OL with Stade de Reims making an approach.
Diawara has already informed Lyon’s hierarchy of his desire to leave the club during the current transfer window. The midfielder had been coveted in the summer but OL were keen to keep the talented prospect, who has since seen his progress stall due to a lack of first-team opportunities.
It is within this context that Reims have submitted an offer. Les Stadistes are in the market for midfield reinforcements, especially with Paris Saint-Germain loanee Gabriel Moscardo going off to represent Brazil. Reims’ offer for Diawara is a loan with an option to make the deal permanent, as per Foot Mercato.
