Rumours have spread fast in the last few days that Chelsea could be looking to cash in on winger Noni Madueke, and TeamTalk are the latest outlet to add some details.

Our writer Simon Phillips revealed that senior figures at Chelsea were happy to let Madueke go, with questions about his “attitude” being raised. Now TeamTalk claim to know that Spurs have put a move for him “under consideration.”

They even claim that the Blues will push for “a deal towards the £60m mark.” That seems ambitious to us – he’s improved but still looks a talent rather than the finished article. This recent injury has been a shame as it’s disrupted a positive season for him.

Tottenham makes sense as destination if sporting directors decide to cash in

Tottenham are one of the clubs we can really see making sense here. Perhaps it’s just because Madueke was in their youth system for a while, but we can see other appeal too.

It allows him to stay in London, it allows him to play for a contender (well, at least in theory), and they have Heung Min Son coming to the end here and will be looking to add some pace and goal threat out wide.

It still seems a crazy decision for Chelsea to want to cash in on him now, given his steady improvement, but it’s also a decision we can see these sporting directors making. If they think they can make a profit on the £29m they paid, and can open up a place in the squad for a player they think is even better, their revolving door policy would certainly allow him to move on.

This January alone they loaned out two players they bought in the summer. Madueke has been at the club for aeons by comparison.
