Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan have slapped a substantial €50 million price tag on in-demand midfielder Davide Frattesi.
According to Corriere della Sera via FCInterNews, Inter’s asking price is nothing short of ‘provocative,’ aimed at fending off potential suitors.
It’s no secret that Frattesi wants to halt his year-and-a-half association with the Nerazzurri.
Meanwhile, the reigning Scudetto holders are willing to listen to offers for their wantaway star.
However, they’re unwilling to let him go for peanuts.
They’re particularly reluctant to sanction his exit midway through the campaign.
Therefore, they’ve pinned a prohibitive price tag on his head.
Inter’s valuation of their second-string midfielder is a defense mechanism.
Beppe Marotta has no intention of splashing the cash to replace Frattesi in January.
As such, he has made the 25-year-old unaffordable for his biggest admirers, Roma.
However, Tottenham Hotspur could still spoil Inter’s plan to force Frattesi to stay until the end of the season.
Unlike the Giallorossi, Spurs boast the financial strength required to pull off a deal of this magnitude.
Now, it’s only a matter of priorities.
Ange Postecoglou is desperate to bolster his squad amid a dreadful Premier League campaign.
Frattesi’s place on his preference list remains uncertain.
