Leeds United produced another strong showing at Elland Road, as Daniel Farke’s side controlled the match against Bristol City throughout, returning to the top of the table with another big three points.

Walking out in front of a sea of yellow at Elland Road as the large majority of the crowd held scarves with the words ‘at least until the world stops going round’ above them, our promotion winning Whites were welcomed onto the pitch to pure emotion.

Having celebrated promotion a week earlier, the traditional rendition of ‘Marching on Together’ was as loud as it has ever been ahead of the referee blowing his whistle to begin the opening 45 minutes.

The early chances went the way of the home side but weren’t capitalised on. Manor Solomon did have the ball in the back of the net but an offside flag from earlier in the move had denied him the opener.

Still on the front foot and only a short time later, Leeds created another good chance which saw Brenden Aaronson shoot left-footed in the box, only for Max O’Leary to make a good save at the near post.

Elland Road would finally erupt with noise just after the 20-minute mark! Solomon’s pinpoint back post ball found Ao Tanaka in space and the midfielder volleyed home brilliantly!

Having controlled the majority of the half, the whistle sounded to send the teams back into the dressing room with the home side on top in the game.

HALF TIME: Leeds United 1-0 Bristol City

Back out for the second half under the lights in West Yorkshire, Farke’s side came close to doubling their lead almost instantly, with a combination of two good saves and the post to deny them!

Aaronson was again involved by playing a deft little ball into the box for Junior Firpo to strike, Willy Gnonto then saw his follow up attempt saved, before Jayden Bogle then struck the post!

Like in the first half, the goal wouldn’t take long in coming after the early chances! Joel Piroe played a top-quality ball through the middle for Gnonto to run onto and the Italian steadied himself before expertly slotting home to make it two!

Looking for a third, a set-play came within inches of adding it! Whipped into the middle, Firpo rose highest and flicked a header beyond everyone, but just the wrong side of the post.

The chances kept coming and the party atmosphere also continued. Farke’s side remained in control and dominated the ball on their way back to the top of the league table.

Inside the final 10 minutes, a third goal would secure the three points! Having come off the bench seconds earlier, Largie Ramazani finished brilliantly at the back post from Firpo’s low cross, rounding off a free-flowing team move!

Not settling for three though, Ramazani would make it four! Yet another brilliant assist came, with Ilia Gruev accurately finding his target in behind, allowing Ramazani to control and smash home left-footed!

A memorable, enjoyable and celebratory home campaign at Elland Road was brought to a close with another big three points, meaning the Sky Bet Championship title will now be decided at Plymouth Argyle in a few days.
