AS Roma travel to take on FC Porto in the Europa League’s play-off round this evening.
The two teams started the season among the favourites for success in this competition but missed out on automatic qualification to the Round of 16. A two-legged play-off now awaits and begins tonight at The Estádio do Dragão.
Roma have improved under the management of veteran head coach Claudio Ranieri. Persuaded out of retirement earlier in the campaign, he has led the Italians to an eight-game unbeaten run in Serie A.
Porto are third in the Primeira Liga, eight points behind leaders Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese side are also looking to combat the sales of key figures Nico Gonzalez and Galeno in the winter window.
Roma could include new signings Devyne Rensch and Victor Nelsson after the Serie A side bolstered their defensive options last month. However, fellow recruits Lucas Gourna-Douath and Anass Salah-Eddine have not been registered in the European squad.
Manu Kone will return after missing the weekend win against Venezia through suspension, while the rested Leandro Paredes and Alexis Saelemaekers could come back in. Saelemaekers will miss the second leg if he is booked tonight, as will veteran defender Mats Hummels.
Roma predicted XI: Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, Ndicka; Saelemaekers, Pellegrini, Paredes, Angelino; Dybala, Baldanzi; Dovbyk.
Porto host Roma in the Europa League’s play-off round on Thursday 13th February 2025. Kick-off in Portugal is 20:00 GMT.
In the United Kingdom (UK), the Europa League match between Porto and Roma will be available to watch and stream online live through TNT Sports 2.
