Organizations need to have a common understanding and agreed-upon approach. Naturally, everyone wants to win, but how to go about achieving that is where disagreements usually start. When, furthermore, obstacles and a series of losses occur, factions can form, and people will retreat to preserve their own well-being.
This is avoided with a shared approach and when good, early conversations are held to overcome any initial mix-ups. Lack of having discussed what a shared vision could potentially look like and who will operate at which capacity. When the City boss then speaks on what he's discussed with the board, these words show a valid point of concern for anyone in his position.
According to Ruud van Nistelrooy, as he discussed during the Wolves pre-match press conference, he has had ongoing discussions with the club about what the future may look like. While RvN knows that he's played his part in the Foxes doomed relegation, the Dutchman will want to put LCFC in the best position in the event he does continue past the summer.
Particularly after Jamie Vardy announced his decision to leave and the mathematical guarantee of playing in the Championship next season, there are a lot of moving parts at City right now. RvN's departure is also a possibility and would add another layer of difficulty to navigate.
The former Dutch international spoke on what some of the internal dialogue has been like. While there is currently uncertainty, he is making the case, through what he views as the best path forward, for a decision to be made regarding his future. During the press conference, he explained:
"I think I've made the conversations, as I said, starting in February... The club knows where I stand. I'm always informing the club in the way I see things... I'm waiting for the club to come back in the sense of when can we start to look for the alignment that's so necessary."
At the end of the day, a lot of what plagues City is the lack of a well-executed plan. Division and short-sightedness are clear within the current business side of Leicester. Even if van Nistelrooy is soon relieved of his duties, what the current manager is asking for here is what's needed at LCFC: alignment.
