Wolves fullback Matt Doherty reveals that Jorgen Strand Larsen played with fatigue in his recent match-winning performance against Southampton.

You would agree the ongoing International break has come with a mixed bag of feelings from Southampton fans. While there's no fear of a loss for some days at least, the recent Wolves defeat is still fresh in memory.

And why wouldn't it be? After all, the fixture's importance was such that it sealed the fate of the Premier League relegation battle.

Not only did Strand Larsen's Wolves double push Southampton closer to demotion, but grew fears associated with the lowest points embarrassing record.

Still, humiliation for the tally, if it comes, will come later, but what to do of a more shameful realization that is taking rounds in the Saints camp now.

Doherty's fitness reveal sets the ultimate lowdown for Southampton

Which one? Recently, Wolves defender Matt Doherty unveiled that forward Larsen was fatigued all the time in his decisive performance against Southampton. Further, many of the other Wolves players were not up to their best physical condition for the matchday.

As quoted by Molinuex News, Doherty revealed their squad's situation, emphasizing Larsen: "We know he's [Strand Larsen] a very good striker and he cost a lot of money for us, and he's not the only one who is playing through the pain barrier, I think there's a lot of us doing that."

Just imagine having gotten dumped a brace from an injured number 9, that too in front of a home crowd. Definitely, of many other season lows, nothing could be more discomforting than this.

Though it may seem harsh, witnessing such humiliations, Southampton isn't far from alienating the majority of their supporters.

Let's hope that though not for a Top Flight survival, the Saints at least improve ahead. Otherwise, in a not-so-celebrated history, the club might lose one of their biggest earned achievements, a loyal fanbase.
