FC Barcelona are currently preparing for the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid which will give the team an excellent chance to win their first silverware of the season. It could also prove to be a momentum injector for the Catalan club for their La Liga season ahead.
Regardless of what is happening on the pitch or off it, the January transfer window has brought a wave of speculation surrounding Barcelona players being linked with potential exits. Among them, the most prominent name is Ronald Araujo, who is reportedly on Juventus’ radar and could make a move to the Italian giants soon.
Now, as per Fichajes, Saudi Pro League clubs have set sights on Barcelona duo Frenkie de Jong and Raphinha and the league is preparing lucrative offers to convince the talented duo to continue their careers in the Middle East league.
These are two players on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to their Barcelona careers. Raphinha is having the season of his life, leading from the front wearing the armband, and also scoring and assisting regularly.
For the first time since he joined the club from Leeds United, Raphinha has endeared himself to the Blaugrana faithful. Hansi Flick has brought the best out of him and the club will not want to part ways with the 28-year-old at this stage.
On the other hand, Frenkie de Jong is struggling with every passing day as a Barcelona player. Injuries have ruined what was turning out to be a promising career and the Dutchman has fallen down the pecking order.
Hansi Flick is not using Frenkie as a starter and the Dutchman has not given his coach any reason to decide otherwise. Every time the 27-year-old plays a game, he looks like a liability waiting to happen and that can never be a good thing.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Frenkie and Raphinha in a Barcelona jersey. The expectation is that one would stay and one would leave, in that order, and let’s wait and see if the Dutchman finds himself at an SPL club sooner rather than later.
