Matt Le Tissier's old comments are sure to spark inspiration in the Southampton roster ahead of the Wolves fixture.
Midweek has kicked off today and the next few days will be absolutely thrilling for English football. As a Southampton fan, it's wise to admit that we are entering into one of the most relaxing phases of the entire season.
Away from facing elite Premier League opponents for a decent while, what more can the Saints possibly ask for?
Well, securing a few points wouldn't be an unwelcoming idea and the stars also seem aligned for this possibility. Currently, Ivan Juric's camp is preparing for the Wolves task which isn't an already lost battle on paper, in all honesty.
Yet, the elated feeling doesn't last long for Southampton. It's because their previous track record against Wolves is so demotivating that we need to reflect six years back to remember a Premier League victory.
But if you tuned in for the entire post-match show, you would be smiling ear to ear at the moment. Firstly, because legendary Matt Le Tissier made a pundit appearance on that occasion and secondly due to his encouraging Wolves verdict.
As pointed out by Molineux News, Le Tissier's words were: "It looks like they have done all their work, got themselves into a good position. The hunger possibly has just died a little bit."
In case you forgot, that Wolves squad over-exceeded expectations with their European qualification in a few weeks. Similar to their previous goal, the visitors seem better placed to fulfill their present relegation escaping objective without much headache.
Furthermore, the international break is also commencing from the following week. Therefore, Wolves have a number of reasons to approach this game lightly which could work well in Southampton's favour.
The Saints are eyeing a third cheerful Premier League evening and a lousy matchday preparation from their rivals will be a much-needed boost. If they successfully take an early lead here, Southampton will arrive in touching distance to end the month on a high note.
