The 2024 Premier League calendar fittingly concluded with Manchester United tasting defeat at home on Monday night.
The year had opened up with Newcastle losing away at Liverpool on New Year's Day amid a campaign of regression for the Magpies, but Eddie Howe's side are on the up once more and their convincing triumph over the Red Devils depicted their resurgence.
Only a few teams can say 2024 was an unmitigated success, with the majority struggling for consistency all year round. Even Manchester City, who secured their fourth-straight league title in May, have faltered drastically in 2024/25 and have a fight on their hands to secure a top-four berth.
As you know, there are no trophies for calendar year success, but it's nonetheless intriguing to assess the most successful outfits between 1 January and 31 December. Fortunes of teams can drastically alter by the season.
Here's the full Premier League table for 2024.
Arsenal endured another second-place finish in 2023/24, yet they have ended the year as the Premier League's most productive team. Mikel Arteta's side recorded 85 points from 36 games, losing just three times.
They also conceded the fewest number of goals (25) in the calendar year.
Their points haul was matched by current league leaders Liverpool, who played a game more. The Reds stumbled down the stretch last season as Jurgen Klopp bade farewell, but Arne Slot has built upon the sturdy foundations left by the German and helped Liverpool re-emerge as the division's dominant force. No Premier League side scored more goals than the Merseysiders (92).
Manchester City enjoyed a 23-match unbeaten run and won nine straight to lift yet another title in 2024, but a woeful run to close out the year means City sit third in the annual table with 82 points. They doubtlessly would've ended 2024 at the summit hadn't they endured such a woeful run between the start of November and Boxing Day. Nevertheless, they're comfortably better off than Chelsea, who rank fourth with 70 points.
Interestingly. Mauricio Pochettino helped Chelsea to more points during his final 19 games in charge (38) than Enzo Maresca has during his first 19 (35).

Bournemouth and Fulham rank among the surprise packages that sit in the top half of the 2024 table, with Tottenham and Manchester United enduring equally disappointing years. Ange Postecoglou has guided Spurs to their lowest points haul in a calendar year since 2009, with only Brentford and Wolves tasting more defeats.
Everton were the poorest performing side among the teams who remained in the top flight all year round. The Toffees escaped relegation with relative comfort last season and currently have a decent buffer from the drop zone, but they recorded a measly 31 points from 36 games in 2024 and won just eight games.
Southampton took Sheffield United's hopeless mantle after returning to the Premier League via the play-offs. The Saints and Blades combined for 13 points and two wins in 2024. Sheffield Utd, who once again look strong in the second tier, conceded a whopping 55 goals in just 18 games (3.056 per game). Southampton scored 12 goals in 19 games.
