Tim Trummer is clearly a young player for a big occasion. The 19-year-old made his Bundesliga debut in our starting line-up at in-form Austria Vienna - and cut a composed figure as we took a big 1-0 away win!
Seeing the name Tim Trummer in the starting XI may well have surprised a few people before kick-off, but the Austrian U18 international wasn't handed the opportunity by chance - he has worked hard for it. Admittedly, Thomas Letsch had to be a little creative with Aleksa Terzic recovered from injury but not yet ready for 90 minutes of action. The unassuming youngster was called for, and those in the know at our club were aware his first start would just be a matter of time – even if it was more likely to be in a different position.
He did fantastically until he had to come off completely exhausted. I'm very pleased for him.
Thomas Letsch
I am really happy with my debut. I am even happier for the whole team that they won. The feeling was really cool. The team supported me and gave me courage right away. That made it a little easier.

Trummer spent the winter preparation period with our Red Bulls, after the academy graduate signed his first professional contract with us at the start of January. He showed what he is capable of in friendly matches against Bayern Munich and FC Midtjylland. The fact he made his debut as a left-back is due to our personnel shortage, as the Austrian is actually more at home at right-back - and was even a midfielder until recently.
Trummer has been in Salzburg since 2018 and has played through all the levels of the Salzburg Way. The all-rounder has been a regular performer in our UEFA Youth League team, shining in the high-profile youth tournament and scoring a decisive dream strike against the youngsters of Bayer Leverkusen. He will be an important player at Daniel Beichler's disposal in the Youth League last 16 tie next week at home to Atletico Madrid.
It remains to be seen if the tall youngster features again for our Red Bulls - as a starter or a substitute - against Sturm Graz this Sunday. One thing for sure is that the player Alex Schlager terms a real worker is brimming with talent and has a great attitude. With plenty of patience, we will definitely see a lot more Trummer action!
