Toppmöller demands “focused” performance

The Eintracht boss shares his thoughts on opponents Hoffenheim, personnel matters, Can Uzun and Mario Götze.

Head coach Dino Toppmöller on …

…the game against Hoffenheim: “I’m expecting a dynamic contest, because Hoffenheim will definitely want to play football. Both teams like to go forward and have great attacking players, which is why we could see more transitions. At the same time, we need to make sure we defend well in all other situations and have a good structure when we have the ball, so as not to get hit on the counter. The lads have done that well in recent games.”

…personnel: “It’ll be touch and go with Mo Dahoud und Oscar Højlund (who both have colds). Nene Brown (cold) was rested today as a precaution, but I’m hopeful he’ll be involved on Sunday.”

…the squad and Eintracht’s form: “We’re confident of bringing someone in, but because nothing’s been finalised yet I don’t have much to say on the matter. Our complete focus is on the game against Hoffenheim – we’ve only just had a meeting about our upcoming opponents. We’re going to need to be just as focused as we were against Ferencváros. That’s what we’ve demanded from the lads. We’re on a good run, but we also know we need to work hard to make sure that remains the case. Knowing we have the fantastic support of our fans again makes us all the more excited about the game. It inspires us even more.” …Can Uzun: “Can Uzun had a good game and scored a great goal yesterday. He can obviously still improve and is set to be an important player in the future.” …Mario Götze: “Mario Götze is doing really well - he’s also given the green light for Sunday. We took him off for a few minutes yesterday with half an eye on Sunday’s game.”
