Tottenham Hotspur have reminded Real Madrid that their star player is not available at any price. Real Madrid's new transfer need has not changed this.
Real Madrid have made no secret of their transfer interest in Cristian Romero. The Argentine defender is believed to be near the top of Real Madrid's radar. This was the case in the summer and, understandably, their stance has not budged.
There should be a respect between Daniel Levy (Tottenham chairman) and Florentino Perez (Real Madrid president). This is because they both operate their clubs in a similar stubborn manner.
They are both tough nuts to crack, but they are also both persistent when it comes to getting what they want.
And Real Madrid certainly want to sign Cristian Romero.
According to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have reinstated that Cristian Romero is not up for sale, at any price. This news come as Tottenham anticipate Real Madrid to revamp their long-term interest in Romero.
In case you were not aware, Real Madrid are undergoing an injury crisis as it stands. Los Blancos were already without David Alaba due to a knee injury. However, they will now be missing Eder Militao for the remainder of the season too.
This, combined with Real Madrid's lack of right-back options (Vazquez is their only option as it stands), means that Real Madrid will certainly be in the market for a new centre-back in January. Of course, this is not great news for Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Spurs will not entertain any Real Madrid transfer interest in Cristian Romero. In fact, the report states that instead of weakening their defence, Tottenham will instead look to bolster their options in this position..
Therefore, as far as Daniel Levy is concerned, Cristian Romero is not even considered for a sale. Let's just hope the World Cup winner remains satisfied at Tottenham.
Cristian Romero is an incredible defender. He is one of only a few Tottenham players who can be in the world-class conversation. Considering he has played with some of the best players in the world, his experience is also invaluable to Tottenham Hotspur.
Romero is only 26 years old, so the best is yet to come from the Argentine. This is a frightening thought for anyone who isn't a fan of Tottenham.
