Norwegian referee Espen Eskas met expectations in last night’s Champions League game between Feyenoord and Inter Milan.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Eskas had a few minor errors but performed well overall.
Goals from Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez on either side of halftime propelled Inter to a 2-0 victory at De Kuip.
Yet, it could’ve been 3-0 for the Nerazzurri had Piotr Zielinski not squandered a penalty midway through the second half.
Despite the Pole’s miss, the defending Serie A champions are in pole position to reach the quarter-finals.
Espen didn’t award a penalty to Inter at first.
However, after consulting with the side-pitch monitor, he pointed to the spot for a crystal-clear foul on Thuram.

Simone Inzaghi could’ve seen his team go a man up early in the first half.
Yet, Eskas refused to show Jeyland Mitchell a second booking for a feeble attempt to draw a penalty.
Moreover, he also pardoned Julian Carranza for a cynical tackle on Krstijan Asllani in the fifth minute.
But he was decent overall.
