Kicker reports that Portuguese attacker Nuno Miguel Valente Santos of Vitória de Guimarães may soon be on his way to the Bundesliga. FC Union Berlin seek to bring in the former youth international as part of their urgent January push to shore up an anaemic attack.

Kicker claims that Santos’ Primeira Liga club presently demand a €5m fee for the 25-year-old, who only maintains a €2.5m estimated market value in the latest Transfermarkt listings. The talent may nevertheless be worth such an investment given his performance metrics this year.

Santos has netted five goals and registered seven assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for “Os Vimaranenses” thus far this year. In the process, he’s been able to pump his estimated market worth back up to the career high achieved when he represented Charlotte FC in America’s MLS.

Berlin’s “Eisernen” continue to struggle with offensive options. Despite the fact that newly-appointed trainer Steffen Baumgart’s roster features eight strikers, only Benedict Hollerbach (three league tallies) has produced more than one goal this season.

Attacking midfielder Woo-Yeong Jeong and full-back/wing-back Tom Rothe have also contributed two league goals. Seven other players have registered one goal over the course of the current nearly half-completed season. Yorbe Vertessen is the only other striker apart from Hollerbach to have scored.
