Birmingham City have completed the signing of American goalkeeper Adrianna Franch on a short-term deal which will run until the end of the season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues this evening.

The 34-year-old joins Birmingham City off the back of an impressive career in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Franch has turned out for Western New York Flash, Portland Thorns and Kansas City Current at the top level of the American game. The keeper has won silverware with each of those clubs.

On the international stage, Franch has been capped by the United States on 10 occasions. She was a member of the squad which won the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 while she also claimed an Olympic Bronze the following year.

After joining Birmingham City, Franch said “‘I’m super-excited to be here. The opportunity presented itself and culturally getting a different experience, you continue to learn.

“Being a part of a team that wants to move forward and be ambassadors in the women’s game [is great] and hopefully, I can be part of something special.”

It is unclear whether Franch will be available for selection for Sunday’s Barclays Women’s Championship fixture against Southampton.
