Manchester United star Antony scored a breathtaking late goal to complete Real Betis’ comeback and secure their victory against Espanyol on Sunday.
Antony has been in fine form for Betis since joining them from United during the winter transfer window.
The Brazilian has been instrumental for Los Verdiblancos in their pursuit of European football and their campaign to win the UEFA Conference League.
He was at it again on Sunday, this time as Betis made their way to the RCDE Stadium to face Espanyol. The hosts took the lead shortly before the half-hour mark through Roberto Fernandez, who planted his shot into the bottom left corner.
Espanyol looked like they were on track for a big victory but former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso restored parity in the 85th minute to set up a furious end to proceedings.
Just six minutes later, Antony produced the moment of magic, curling a stunning strike from the right into the top left corner.
Antony’s strike ensured Betis clinched all three points to remain sixth in the table with 57 points.
Beyond the goal, Antony managed to successfully find his teammates with 41 of the 49 passes he attempted (84% pass accuracy).
He aimed two crosses, connecting with his intended target on one occasion.
The 25-year-old fired four shots, all of which were on target. He could have had more than one on another day. Antony embarked on three dribbles and completed one.
The winger won an impressive eight of the 12 ground duels he delved into. He also drew five fouls.
Antony put in two tackles and made as many interceptions.

His reputation continues to grow after another top-class performance, and for United, it’s a welcome development as interest in Antony is likely to intensify among potential suitors.
