Real Madrid and Mallorca face off on Thursday in the second semi-final of the 2025 Spanish Super Cup, and the good news for the defending champions is that Vinicius Junior will be available for that match (and a prospective final) after he received a two-match La Liga suspension for his red card against Valencia.
Vinicius has had several run-ins with Mallorca players over the last few years, and it could be a tactic that they look to employ again in Saudi Arabia, However, captain Antonio Raillo has chosen to remain tight-lipped on the matter, as per MD.
“The focus is a little more on him because he is a very decisive player. He always faces up, seeks to dribble and beat the opponent… It’s normal for him to receive more fouls, and if he receives more fouls, then the bad guys are the defenders. I prefer not to say anything because a controversy would be generated that does not benefit anyone.
“Is it easy to provoke Vinicius? The thing is that it doesn’t matter what we say, you want to take everything out of context. We prefer not to say anything and that is why we are not even going to evaluate it. Not answering this question is the best remedy for it.”
There is no doubt that Mallorca will need to keep Vinicius quiet if they are to reach Sunday’s final, although this is much easier said than done. Real Madrid will see the Brazilian as a reference point, as they usually do, although they will be keen for him to keep a cool head.
