Uros Racic is currently on loan at West Brom from Serie A side Sasuolo
Uros Racic’s time at West Brom could come to an end this January amid a lack of recent playing time.
According to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the midfielder’s parent club Sassuolo are considering recalling him from his season-long loan before the February 3 deadline.
The Serbian has made 21 league appearances for Albion since arriving in the summer, but only nine of those have come as a starter.
Racic has featured just once from Tony Mowbray’s first three matches in charge, coming off the bench in the Baggies' 5-1 win over Portsmouth last weekend.
It has been claimed that Sassuolo are considering moving Racic out of West Brom and back to Portuguese side Famalicão
The 26-year-old spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan with the Primeira Liga side, where he made 33 league appearances.
His lack of recent game-time with Albion is reportedly a concern, which could lead to him being recalled and loaned back out elsewhere.
No decision has yet been made on whether he will be recalled this month however, with the market set to close on Monday in England and for the majority of European countries.
Racic hasn’t quite been able to cement himself as a regular starter in the West Brom team this year, but he has still proven a useful addition to the Midlands outfit.
The midfielder has contributed two assists from 21 appearances in the Championship, with the club aiming to finish inside the top six once again this term.
Racic hasn’t been the most important midfielder at West Brom this season, but he has still played a role in their battle for a play-off place.
His departure would hurt Mowbray’s side, and take away some cover in a key part of the squad.
Sassuolo though will be weighing up where the player could get the most game time, and that likely would be away from Albion given recent developments.
West Brom have already signed Isaac Price from Standard Liege this month, so that means a replacement in the squad probably wouldn’t be needed for Racic if he were to depart, but if Albion are going to sustain their push to finish inside the play-off spots between now and the end of the season, squad depth will be needed in areas to cover the likes of injury and fatigue.
