Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes isn’t completely satisfied with the draw against Liverpool, but believes the team should build on this performance.
After three league defeats in a row, most fans and observers had forecasted a beatdown for the Red Devils at the hands of the league leaders at Anfield. Nevertheless, Ruben Amorim’s men had some fight within them this time around.
The visitors remained compact at the back and managed to harry the opposition on the counterattacks. While the first half ended goalless, the second period was an entertaining back-and-forth affair with the two teams trading the lead. Both had chances to win at the death, but Virgil van Dijk and Harry Maguire were both wasteful when surging forward, so the game ended in a 2-2 draw that lifted United to the 13th place in the table.

But despite overcoming the expectations in this particular clash, Fernandes insists Man Utd shouldn’t be happy with the draw, as they needed to pick up more points to elevate themselves from their miserable league position as soon as possible.
“Obviously we’ve been criticised, and fairly, because the position in the table says it all,” said the Portugal international in his post-match interview with Sky Sports
“We’ve lost too many points. Even today, we can’t be happy with the draw, because we need points more than they do.”
Therefore, the skipper wonders why the team can’t produce such impressive displays on a weekly basis.
“It’s a really good result and a fair result, both teams played good football and it was intense. I’m pretty upset because we can show this against Liverpool at Anfield, first in the league, the outstanding team in the Premier League this season, why can’t we do this every week?”
