Wolves fans have had plenty to say after Wednesday’s match against Newcastle United.

There has been a bit of a new manager bounce after Vitor Pereira took over four weeks ago, seven points from a possible nine in his first three PL games, though then a 3-0 home defeat to Forest brought them back down to earth in the most recent Premier League match.

Newcastle United won 2-1 at Molineux in September and Eddie Howe had a perfect record at St James’ Park against Wolves. With a trio of Premier League home wins since he arrived, 1-0, 2-1 and 3-0.

That perfect home record remains, after this latest 3-0 defeat for Wolves.

Wolves fans with plenty to say after the defeat at St James’ Park, commenting via their Molineux Mix message board:

‘Well done Newcastle.

File that one under losing to a much better team who didn’t even need to play anywhere near their best. They have that power throughout the team that we lack.’

‘Newcastle away midweek. Sorry to be defeatist but what were people expecting? It’s the surest home win on the calendar.’

‘The difference between the two teams was stark. One team has been kept together to form a good side, the other team has been ruthlessly decimated and allowed to stagger on with very little aim each season.

We’re a million miles off the Newcastles of the league and a long way off mid table too.’

‘another day and we score 4 goals.’

‘Newcastle weren’t out of 2nd gear, but woeful defending and finishing meant they didn’t need to be.’

‘Interesting game. They of course were the better side, and whilst Isak gets all the plaudits I think it is Gordon that majesties tick.’

‘That game was decided on fine margins. They were the better side, but our performance wasn’t abysmal, there’s something to work with.’

‘Yes Newcastle are a good side and yes it’s very difficult to get something there, but focussing on own performance I thought we were absolutely dreadful all over the pitch.

Same old mistakes at the back and worryingly we have completely lost our touch in front of goal. Another very easy win against Wolverhampton Wanderers – a dreadful football team.’

‘Manager looks absolutely raging at the missed chances. You can’t finish that game without scoring. Some absolute sitters just squandered.’

‘Championship level strikers in Hwang and Larsen v A Premier League attack force.’

‘I thought large spells were fine. Wolves did create some chances.

Some of the defending was pretty painful. The body language could have been better.’

‘Awful defending accompanied with awful finishing is a recipe for disaster. I think the honeymoon period is over and some serious hard work and a decent end to the transfer window is required.’

‘Shocking in both boxes.’

‘We had enough chances to score at least three, only for profligacy to rear its head again, and we are shooting ourselves in the foot at the other end.’

‘The pant wetting is insane. We’ve just lost 2 in a row to 2 teams in the top 4.

We all know we’re in a relegation scrap, at least with Vitor at the helm we have a fighting chance.

We didn’t play well, didn’t like some of the body language, but that’s probably to be expected when you aren’t putting your chances away.’

‘Hwang throwing himself to the ground holding face when touched in the chest after beating a man. Or passing back rather than going forward

We’re such a physically weak side we seem to have attacking players always on the ground apart from ran and cunha who seem to be able to withstand a challenge

Counter to that near enough every attack dominates us physically

Too much time in the box for every Newcastle player.’

‘The gulf in quality and strength between the two teams was very evident and frankly, embarrassing. Such a painful game to watch.’

‘Newcastle are a good side no doubt but that flattered them same as Forest result

If we cant score and cant defend it only ends one way im afraid.’

‘I think some are being a bit harsh. I thought they played OK for most of the game. The first goal was a wicked deflection from a player running back. The 2nd Isak goal was a lovely threaded pass and the new lad was slow coming back and played him on side.

The chances we missed, we hit the post twice, and missed two sitters in injury time.

Don’t forget the run Newcastle are on and the talent they have all over the pitch.

There is no doubt we lost concentration two or three times in defence and were punished clinically, and at the other end another day we could or perhaps should have scored four.’

‘That today was men vs boys…..

We’re in big, big trouble. Haven’t seen a Wolves side defend this poorly since the last time we went down in the Prem.’

‘We’ve played the two form teams in the league in the last two games and if there was ever any truth in that when you’re at the top things go for you and when you’re at the bottom they don’t, we’ve seen it in the past two games

Lost both 3-0, but neither were 3-0 games on balance of play. You could be forgiven for thinking we’re a toothless side seeing as we haven’t scored in the two games, watch them and you have no idea how we haven’t scored.’

‘At one point, the commentator said how Newcastle love to play when the game is loose and open. Many of their best chances came from us being caught out too far up, giving the ball away, leaving gaps between defence and attack so playing pointless long balls. VP needs to go into Nuno/Bruno mode and realise that we aren’t going to win gung-ho free scoring shoot outs, so need to focus totally on defending as a team. Let Cunha do all the attacking as he’s better than all the rest put together anyway!’

‘Newcastle beat both Leicester and Ipswich 4-0 and have now won a club record 9 games in a row. Yes it was really deflating tonight, our lack of concentration in defence and constantly missing easy chances in attack is a theme we’ve had all season, but 3-0 to Newcastle is not a fatal blow by any means.’

‘If it wasn’t for some excellent keeping and TBF, some excellent defending for much of the match, we could easily have let in 6. I’m not sure the midfield and wing backs can be let off the hook so easily, given how little they did to stop Newcastle strolling into our penalty area repeatedly.’

‘Nowhere near as bad as some of the nonsense posted on here. Created some very good chances, another day we score a couple. A rubbish deflection got the game going for them, nowt you can do about that. A nonsense decision to chalk off our goal. Defensively we looked not too bad but two horror shows gifted them the last two goals, that is the only real concern.

Newcastle are a very good side and we could have matched them with a bit more luck.’

‘I don’t care who we are playing you will not see two worse goals conceded as the second and third today. Three centre backs have somehow left Isak and Gordon completely free 10 yards out in the centre of goal. It’s indefensible.’

‘Newcastle were far stronger and more athletic than us. They bullied us at the back. That was the main difference between the teams.

That said, I don’t think it was a 3-0 game. If anything, we created more chances and better chances. JSL missing two great opportunities and Sarabia another. Disappointingly though, Newcastle didn’t even play very well. I thought the referee was awful, giving every 50 / 50 tackle to Newcastle. ‘

‘Beaten by the better team. Still in the game in the first half but beaten by a quality striker.

Having said that hit woodwork twice, goal disallowed – in part due to Newcastle taking foot off gas.’

‘It feels like such a contradiction saying it was men vs boys and then bemoaning missed chances.

I never really felt that we would get anything today, even with the missed chances. Maybe the Larsen one before half time or even the Guedes air shot early doors change the type of game it was?

Overall, though, Newcastle are and were the better team all over.’
