Xabi Alonso has given an update on Alejandro Grimaldo after the Spaniard was forced off with a head injury in Bayer Leverkusen's DFB-Pokal win over FC Köln on Wednesday.

Fortunately for Leverkusen, the injury doesn't appear to be serious and Grimaldo is expected to be fit for next week's clash with Bayern Munich after serving a one-match ban against Wolfsburg on Saturday.

"Alejandro doesn't feel perfect yet. He's not training today. But he was suspended at Wolfsburg, so it's not a big problem. He'll be fit for next week," said Xabi Alonso at Friday's press conference.

"He took a knock on the head. He was a bit confused, but wanted to play on. But after Boni's goal he had a headache and had to come off. We're not too worried, but we're not taking any risks with him training today. We'll wait a bit longer, but he'll be fit next week," he added.

Alonso also revealed that Amine Adli, who has been sidelined since October with a broken fibula, will return to the Leverkusen squad this weekend.

"He'll definitely be in the squad on Saturday," Alonso stressed.
