Leeds United are up to 2nd in the Championship table after registering a fifth successive league win, having come away from Bristol City with a 1-0 victory on Friday night.

Daniel Farke’s men have played two more games than Southampton and Ipswich Town, but their relentless form has put the pressure on their promotion rivals. A place in the play-offs looks all but secure at this stage, but the club have their sights set on the top two.

“There can be no complacency when you are a good run like we are right now. We have to respect each and every opponent. Football is never fair and you have to grab your reward,” Farke told Leeds Live following the win at Ashton Gate.

“We deserved to win today but you have to grab it. If you want to be in a position come next May where you have something to cheer about, you need this consistency in this league. We are doing it at the moment and it is fantastic.”

Here are 10 statistics that underline just how good Farke’s Leeds have been of late.

– Leeds have kicked off a calendar year with five league wins for the first time in the club’s history.

– They are the only side of the 72 clubs in the Football League to have maintained a 100% league record in 2024. Leeds’ aggregate Championship score in 2024 is 10-1.

– Leeds are also the only team in the entire Football League that remain unbeaten at home this season. In the top four tiers of English football, it’s only Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester City that are yet to taste defeat on home soil in 2023-24.

– Daniel Farke’s side may be nine points behind league leaders Leicester City, but they actually boast the best underlying statistics in the Championship. They’re top for both expected goals  (52.6xG) and bottom for expected goals against (24.7xGA) giving them a mightily impressive expected goals difference of +28xG. To put that in context, that’s almost double the expected goals difference of promotion rivals Ipswich (+14.5xG).

– With 60 points from 30 games, Leeds are averaging exactly two points per game. That sees them projected to end the season on 92 points – a tally that has been enough for automatic promotion in every season in Championship history.

– Leeds are actually five points better off than they were at the same stage the last time they were in the Championship – under Marcelo Bielsa in 2019-20, when they ended up as Championship champions on 93 points, 10 clear of any other team.

– This is the first time that Leeds have registered five consecutive league wins since July 2020, the month they last sealed promotion.

– The club’s regular front four of Daniel James, Crysensio Summerville, Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter have notched a combined 37 goals and 23 assists between them in the Championship this season. Recent games have also seen Patrick Bamford, Wilfried Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony come in and score or assist. Farke has lots of options.

– Summerville has received 11 Man Of The Match WhoScored ratings in his 25 Championship starts this season. That’s the most of any player in the division. He also boasts WhoScored’s highest average rating (7.79) for any Championship player.

– The Dutch winger ranks top for key passes – the final pass before a team-mate shoots at goal – with 79. He ranks third for ‘big chances created’ on 14, behind Leeds team-mate Georginio Rutter (18) and Leicester City’s Abdul Issahaku (19).
