The Rs have gone from being a side fighting for a place in the play-offs to one that has just kept their Championship status by the skin of their teeth in the last two campaigns.

Marti Cifuentes made an instant impact with the West London side last season, and the hope is that he can continue his good work and get the club further up the table.

The Spaniard will likely be looking for new additions to arrive to freshen up his squad, but there is also the possibility of one or two players departing between now and the end of the window.

With that said, here we have looked at two players who are likely to leave QPR before 11 p.m. on Friday, August 30th...

Jake Clarke-Salter

It appears as though defender Jake Clarke-Salter is hot property this summer, as he’s emerged on the radar of a few clubs.

It was first reported by The Telegraph’s John Percy in May that Stoke City had Clarke-Salter as a top target for this transfer window.

It was reported at the time that it could cost any club between £5-7 million to sign the player, but Stoke’s interest has since gone quiet.

However, it has since been revealed that Wolves are interested in signing the player and are plotting a move for the 26-year-old after they lost Max Kilman to West Ham.

But they will have to pay a significant amount of money to get the player out of West London.

That is because, according to Football Insider, Wolves will have to pay £10 million to sign Clarke-Salter in this transfer window.

That is more than the original £5-7 million quoted by John Percy, and it could possibly be more than what the Premier League was expecting when they expressed their interest.

However, the report does add that QPR are trying to drive a hard bargain, but they know it will be difficult to talk him out of a move to the Premier League, and therefore, they will not stand in his way.

Clarke-Salter has been with QPR since the summer of 2022, after joining the club on a free transfer from Chelsea.

The defender has bounced around a few clubs in recent years, but he has now looked more at home since joining the Rs, as he played 33 times in the league last season, the most games he has played in a single season during his career.

Clarke-Salter was a key part of the club’s success in beating the drop, so, of course, they are likely going to want to keep hold of the player beyond this transfer window.

The defender does still have two years left to run on his contract, so time is on QPR’s side, but that doesn’t mean he is going to stay.

Once Clarke-Salter becomes aware of Wolves’ interest, the defender is likely going to want that move, as it means he has a chance of playing Premier League football, something he may have thought may never come again.

It will depend on whether Wolves or any other team does come in for him, but if they do, Clarke-Salter is likely going to want to move, especially if it is a top-flight club. Meanwhile, QPR may also be willing to sell him should they get the right amount of money for him, as they can use that to enhance their squad in other positions.

Kenneth Paal

Kenneth Paal is another QPR player who has attracted transfer interest in the early stages of this transfer window.

It was reported by West London Sport last week that Watford are interested in signing the left-back in this transfer window.

Paal has one year remaining on his contract at QPR, and while talks have been held over a new contract, the Rs are willing to sell the player should a new deal not be agreed.

That means the future of the 27-year-old will be resolved this summer, as QPR do not want to let the player run down his contract.

It is unclear how long the two parties have been in talks over a new deal, but they have yet to come to an agreement, and therefore, it is looking likely that an exit could be on the cards.

Watford are in need of a new left-back this summer, as they are light in that area of the pitch, and therefore, it could interest Paal to move to Vicarage Road and try a new chapter in his life.

The defender has been very impressive since joining QPR, but with his contract situation being what it is and no new deal looking close, an exit appears more and more likely as the days and weeks go on.

QPR will ideally want to keep hold of the player, but they also know football is a business, and they cannot afford to keep a player for 12 months who will leave for nothing at the end of it.
