One of the areas at Real Madrid to keep an eye on this summer is their left-back situation. There are doubts about the futures of Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia, while Alphonso Davies and Miguel Gutierrez have both been linked.
Carlo Ancelotti appears to have secured Mendy’s stay for at least another season, which suggests that Garcia is more likely to be moved on if club bosses want to make a signing. That could well happen, as Fichajes.net (via Sport) claim that the 24-year-old has been put up for sale ahead of the transfer window opening on Monday.
Garcia re-signed last summer from Rayo Vallecano, although he struggled to hold down a regular starting place during the 2023-24 season. His sale could allow more funds to be raised towards the possible signing of Davies, who is seen as the long-term successor to Mendy.
Right now, the left-back situation at Real Madrid could go either way. Garcia is a very decent backup option, so unless he asks to leave, it would be a surprise to see him depart this summer.
