Arsenal are in talks with Bukayo Saka over handing him a contract extension, but he is already being difficult, according to AFC AMDEN.

The Arsenal insider, who is famous for breaking news about the North London club on social media and is followed by the likes of Kaya Kaynak, Simon Collings, Charles Watt and Sami Mokbel on X (formerly Twitter), has claimed the Gunners have decided to start talks early, but things have not begun easily for them.

Saka signed his current deal back in May 2023, extending it until the summer of 2027, which means there will be only two years left on it at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has been a key player for Arsenal since graduating from the Hale End academy, with 62 goals and 57 assists to his name in 241 games across all competitions.

Saka is a major star in the Gunners squad, and his return of four goals and eight assists in 11 Premier League appearances in 2024-25 highlights his importance to the team.

The England international earns around £195,000 per week at the North London club, behind the likes of Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey, who earn £280,000, £265,000, £240,000, £240,000 and £200,000 weekly, respectively.

Saka deserves to be one of the highest earners at Arsenal, and his representatives will want that to reflect in his new deal.

That could likely be the bone of contention, and the Gunners have to ensure they hand him what he deserves.

He is their best forward, and that status should reflect in his wages going forward.

Arsenal cannot afford to lose such a key player anytime soon, and while he is unlikely to leave for another Premier League club, some of the European bigwigs will be keeping tabs on his situation and will not hesitate to tempt him with a huge offer if the chance presents itself.
