FC Barcelona were given a major boost not just for the rest of the season but for seasons to come when it emerged earlier today that club captain Ronald Araujo had not just made the decision to snub Juventus but is also more open to renewing his contract.
Araujo has been a fan favorite among Barcelona supporters for quite some time. As an incredible defender, his physicality and pace make him the ideal candidate to play a high line in Hansi Flick’s system. Therefore, his decision to stay is a significant boost for the club.
With Barcelona having returned to the 1:1 rule, they might also end up making signings in the January transfer window and one player Hansi Flick would like, provided he arrives on the right financial conditions is Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.
Now, as per SPORT, Marcus Rashford has made the decision to leave Man Utd this month, rather unsurprisingly and he has a host of clubs who are interested in taking him on loan. As things stand though, Barcelona remain his favored option.
The English club is adamant about not strengthening a local rival and would prefer to send him abroad. Spain remains Rashford’s preferred destination, but he expects a balance between the sporting and economic aspects.
Hansi Flick is said to admire what Rashford brings to the table and should the club find this a feasible operation, he would be more than happy to make it happen. The 27-year-old can play as a left-winger and also as the number nine when needed.
What Rashford brings to the table is truly unique. His talent is undeniable, and he could provide valuable squad depth for Barcelona. However, one potential concern is that his attitude has occasionally been criticized.
Ultimately, it could all come down to whether Barcelona have the space to register Rashford, considering the salary that he earns. Of course, the Catalan club isn’t going to pay the whole amount, and let’s wait and see how this saga plays out in the coming weeks.
