FLW identify three perfect strikers to play alongside Andy Cook.
Andy Cook's season-ending ACL injury in January highlighted Bradford City's reliance on their 34-year-old striker for goals.
The Bishop Auckland-born attacker netted 12 in his opening 22 games of the season, and he has remained their top scorer since then with a trio of players behind him on six.
The Bantams are aiming to secure promotion and currently sit at the top of the table with a three-point advantage over Doncaster Rovers in fourth.
If they manage to secure a long-awaited return to League One at the sixth attempt, addressing their attacking options in the summer will be crucial. Finding a player who can complement their ever-reliable frontman will be a top priority and even if they fall short this season, their approach must remain the same, as strengthening their attack could be the difference between promotion or stability next year.
So, at Football League World we have highlighted three perfect partners for Andy Cook in 2025-26.
The most aspirational name on this list, but a player that would be feasible if they make the jump to League One, is Bristol City's Sam Bell.
If the Bantams find themselves in the third tier next season, they will have little interest in merely making up the numbers. Instead, they will aim to replicate the successful campaigns of Wrexham AFC and Stockport County this year, who are both targeting promotion come May.
After emerging on the scene in 2022-23 and building on that in 2023-24, Bell has had an indifferent campaign at Ashton Gate.
Still yet to start a game, he hasn't been afforded regular minutes and a loan away from the club would best suit the attacker next year.
Able to feature on the left wing or directly up front, he is quick, agile, and technically gifted – attributes that would complement Cook’s qualities perfectly.
If he were to enjoy a strong goal-scoring season in the third tier, his confidence would soar, and both Bristol City and Bradford would stand to benefit from such a temporary move.
Regardless of what division Bradford are in next year, Rob Street is a viable option for City.
The 23-year-old is currently on loan at Doncaster Rovers from Lincoln City and has managed to net eight goals in 16 games, averaging a goal every 115 minutes.
His time at the Imps has been disappointing, but he has proved himself in the division above with Shrewsbury Town and Cheltenham Town. Although his goal-scoring prowess has only become evident recently, he is a brilliant presser of the ball, and his work without the ball is just as crucial as his contributions when his side is in possession.
Lincoln would likely be open to letting Street depart for the right price, and if Bradford were to meet their asking fee, a permanent transfer could be on the cards. Of course, if they remain in League Two, a loan option would also be a viable route, and given Street's age, there is plenty of potential for improvement.
His youthful and exuberant style of play would complement Cook's more traditional number nine role, and Street could very well be a signing on the horizon for Bradford at Valley Parade.
Looking down to the National League, Sutton United have a striker in Will Davies, who could be a future partner for Cook.
The 25-year-old signed for United after leaving York City last summer and despite a disappointing campaign for the U's, he has managed to net 18 goals in 39 appearances.
Similar to Street in his ability to trouble defences, Davies arguably offers more in front of goal, and a move to League Two or One would represent his first opportunity in the EFL.
A former member of Ipswich Town's academy, he has enjoyed prolific spells at non-league clubs such as Woodbridge Town and Leiston before his time at Sutton.
Currently under a two-year deal, with just 12 months remaining on his contract this summer, it likely wouldn't take a significant fee for him to join Bradford. If the Bantams remain in League Two, this is a deal they must pursue, with Davies more than ready for the step-up.
At 25 years old, he is another promising young option who could partner Cook next season and, with further development, potentially succeed him as the club’s main striker in the future.
