3 Things We Learned From PSG's Emphatic Win Over Aston Villa

PSG played an excellent game of football on Wednesday, winning 3-1 against Aston Villa at Parc des Princes. Here at PSG Post, we discuss three things we learned as the French champions have one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League. If they finish the job at Villa Park, they have a potential rematch against Arsenal.
They will be eager for revenge as the last time these two sides met earlier in the competition Mikel Arteta's side ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates.
Désiré Doué put in an unreal performance on Wednesday night. The 19-year-old scored a curler to make it 1-1 just before halftime. The French international could have added a second just before half time if Emiliano Martinez had not tipped his shot over the bar. He could have had an assist if Achraf Hakimi finished the chance he gave him in the second half.
His first cap at international level was always inevitable, so it didn't come as a surprise when he was named in France's recent international squad. If he continues on this trajectory, it will be hard to see Bradley Barcola getting game at both club and international level. The Qatari owners may also regret signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as he occupies the same position as Desire Doue.
Les Parisiens thoroughly deserved the win on the night. They had numerous chances on the day and would have won by a greater margin if it weren't for Martinez's brilliant saves. The French champions came racing out of the gate. In just the fifth minute, Vitinha's effort was comfortably gathered by the Aston Villa goalkeeper. Midway through the first half, he had another chance when he whipped an effort over the bar from the edge of the penalty box. In the second half, Lucas Beraldo and Desire Doue had opportunities to score.
The fact that they kept their heads up when they fell 0-1 behind in the first half is a testament to how the club's mentality has changed this season. In previous seasons they may have given up and gone 0-2 down.
Luis Enrique's side plays a good brand of football but needs to be wary of giving the opposition chances. If they play a clinical side later on in the competition, they could be punished emphatically. Villa scored with their first opportunity when Rogers tapped in at the back post in the first half after a well-worked move involving John McGinn and Marcus Rashford. In the second half they had chances through Rogers and Amadou Onana.
