Omar Marmoush has been the subject of much speculation following his excellent start to the season, with reports suggesting a move away from Eintracht Frankfurt could be on the cards.
However, Eintracht are only prepared to let Marmoush go if the price is right. €40 million, which has been rumored as Eintracht's asking price, "will not be enough", board member for sport Markus Krösche told Welt am Sonntag.
Commenting on the speculation surrounding Marmoush's future, he added in the interview:
"With many players who come to us, it is ultimately the case that we offer them an environment in which they can develop - knowing full well that we will let them go if they develop faster than the club itself.
“This is an agreement we make with the boys. That's why we are able to attract so many exciting players, because they know they can take the next step in Frankfurt.”
While it's not unlikely that Marmoush will move on this summer, Krösche reiterates that the plan is to keep him beyond the January transfer window.
“Yes, our goal is to keep the team together. Even if it is important to generate transfer income,” he said.
One thing is clear, however:
“When you have a player of his quality, it's normal that there is interest and speculation. For me, the most important thing is how the player deals with it.”
According to Krösche, Marmoush is handling it all “very well”.
“For Omar, it's not part of his everyday life. An important indicator is a player's performance. And he performs well in training and, not least, in matches.”
According to reports, €60 million could convince Eintracht Frankfurt to sell their star striker.
