Injuries to Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana have Axel Disasi on the cusp of being a first team regular right now, but even with those two out Disasi still is only getting backup minutes, with Tosin Adarabioyo stepping up to partner Levi Colwill in the first team.

Disasi may be happy as fifth choice, but if there’s serious interest from sides he’s keen on joining, and Chelsea get a good offer, we can definitely see him leaving. With 4 solid senior central defenders on the books and lots of young talents out on loan or coming through the academy, Disasi looks likely to be used less rather than more as time passes.

So it’s no surprise to see links to other teams starting to increase as January comes around, with RMC Sport in France claiming that Juventus and “a big German club” have made contact with Chelsea over a potential move.

Disasi exit very plausible – but only at right price

We think given how well the other central defenders are doing and given the talents coming up on the rails, the sporting structure at Chelsea would happily sell Disasi at the right price. The question is how much they’d take.

We paid Monaco €45m for him in August 2023, and he’s still just 26 years old. We doubt we’d want to sell him for much less. But would a team like Juventus pay that? They did pay €47m for Bremer a couple of years ago, but he was far more highly rated than Disasi, and was younger and already experienced in Serie A.

If Chelsea accept something closer to €30m, a deal is on the cards. If they want more – Disasi may end up sticking around as a backup for a little longer.
