This weekend’s football is not one to be missed. From huge derbies in the Netherlands and Italy, to the Premier League’s most modern feud.
Here are our five must-watch games.
Napoli continue to hurdle each obstacle in their path as Antonio Conte’s charges chase the Scudetto. After an entertaining win over title rivals Atalanta, Napoli ended Juventus’s 29-game unbeaten run to remain in control of the title race last time out.
Next up is a clash with Roma, who have fallen on harder times of late. However, Claudio Ranier’s return to the Stadio Olimpico has galvanised the Giallorossi, who are six without defeat in Serie A.
Arne Slot has admitted Liverpool’s trip to Bournemouth this weekend is a ‘big one’ as the Premier League leaders take on the in-form Cherries.
Bournemouth are 11 unbeaten in the Premier League and have thrashed top-four rivals Newcastle and Nottingham Forest in successive games to move within a point of the Champions League places.
Liverpool have lost just once all season in the Premier League but Saturday’s showdown presents a real test of their title credentials.
It’s De Klassieker time in the Eredivisie as Ajax welcome Feyenoord to the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Amsterdam vs Rotterdam, a rivalry that transcends the two teams. Ajax are aiming for a fifth straight win as the capital club look to chase down leaders PSV, while Feyenoord are fourth and well off the pace despite Champions League progress.
Ajax won the last meeting at De Kuip earlier in the season, though memories of Feyenoord’s 6-0 rout of their rivals in April are still fresh. The teams have headed in opposite directions since that record-breaking result but anything can happen when the fierce foes meet.
AC Milan face Inter Milan in The Derby della Madonnina this weekend.
Milan are struggling to keep pace with their fierce rivals in Serie A but have held the upper hand in this fixture of late. The Rossoneri are aiming for a third straight derby win, having upset the champions to win The Supercoppa Italiana earlier this month.
Milan recovered from two goals down to win 3-2 in a dramatic derby and will relish the chance to throw a spanner in the works of Inter’s title charge.
Simeone Inzaghi’s side are three points behind leaders Napoli, with a game in hand.
With bad blood and narrative aplenty, there’s an argument that Arsenal against Manchester City has become the Premier League’s most compelling watch.
September’s stalemate at the Etihad was thrilling viewing, as John Stones snatched a stoppage-time equaliser to deny 10-man Arsenal a huge win. At full-time, there were clashes and commotion between the two sets of players and coaches, in a feud that has festered in recent campaigns.
With neither side currently where they want to be this season, it could add fuel to the fire.
