Paul Mullin and George Evans should both depart Wrexham in the summer.

Wrexham AFC are chasing a remarkable third successive promotion, aiming to surge from the National League to the Championship in just three years.

League One has undoubtedly been the Red Dragons' toughest challenge yet, but they have shown immense resilience.

Their home form has been a real strength, with the Racecourse Ground proving vital once again, while their knack for grinding out results when it matters has kept their dreams alive.

While they have been active in the transfer market, the core of the squad remains intact, with several players still part of the journey from their non-league days.

The likes of Ryan Barnett and Elliot Lee have been particularly impressive, though others have found the step-up in quality a tougher challenge.

With this in mind, Football League World have identified two players who should depart for new pastures this summer, no matter what division the North Wales outfit find themselves in.

Paul Mullin

Paul Mullin's name has become synonymous with Wrexham's meteoric rise, with the striker netting 88 league goals across his first three seasons with the club.

Unfortunately, the jump to League One has proven a step too far, with Mullin not only struggling with injuries for part of the campaign, but he has struggled to make much of an impact when he has figured.

To make matters worse for the 30-year-old, the January arrivals of both Reading's Sam Smith and Burnley veteran Jay Rodriguez look to have pushed Mullin down the pecking order.

The Red Dragons aren't short of other options up front either, with Ollie Palmer, Jack Marriott, Steven Fletcher and Mo Faal all contracted to the club.

Loyalty has its place in football, but if Wrexham are to keep moving forward, letting Mullin go in the summer may be the best decision for all involved.

The striker will no doubt be eager to prove his worth, and a move to a League Two club could offer the perfect platform to rediscover his goalscoring touch next season.

Mullin's current contract runs until 2027, and previous exploits would allow Wrexham to command a suitable fee in the summer.

Undoubtedly, he will be eager to bow out on a high, and if the Red Dragons remain in the promotion race come May, you wouldn’t bet against him forcing his way back into the side to deliver one last, glorious moment - perhaps even the goal that seals their place in the Championship.

George Evans

George Evans joined Wrexham in 2023 after leaving Millwall, but has been plagued by injuries since his arrival at the Racecourse.

Last season, he was a regular in the side when fit, amassing 1,882 minutes across 27 appearances. However, the arrival of new signing George Dobson saw him restricted to substitute appearances at the start of this campaign.

His long-awaited first start against Stevenage ended in disappointment when he suffered a torn ankle ligament, requiring surgery. Though he returned to fitness in December, he has since been limited to just three appearances in the EFL Trophy.

While he has cited his desperation to make an impact in the games remaining, it seems unlikely he will be afforded the opportunity with the 30-year-old not featuring in a league squad since October.

His current contract runs until 2026, with the Red Dragons holding an option for an additional year. However, it seems unlikely that it will reach that stage, as Wrexham will surely look to move him on if he continues to be sidelined - not to mention that he is estimated to be on £7,200 a week, as per Salarysport.

Evans' career in Wales has yet to ignite, and he needs to find a club where he can remain injury-free and make a consistent impact throughout an entire season.
