Long-time Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has on Tuesday taken aim at the club’s current board, in no uncertain terms.

Font, for his part, took his place in front of the media this afternoon, as leader of the ‘Sí al futur’ group.

The Spaniard reiterated his intention to run against current Barca president Joan Laporta once more down the line, calling for the elections to be moved forward to June of 2025.

Whilst such demands turned heads, though, it was Font’s criticism of the Blaugrana regime over their recent work on the economic and transfer fronts which stole the headlines.

Drawn on a whole host of topics by the media presence in attendance, the 52-year-old made use of the opportunity to slam Laporta and co, with some of the highlights (as per Mundo Deportivo) showcased below.

On the summer exit of Vitor Roque:

“Vitor Roque was signed and we were told that he was the best talent in Brazil. We paid 30 million plus variables with money we didn’t have. We need to be told the facts as they are. What happened next? It’s a financial and management disaster and I’m sure he’s a better player than the poor guy thinks.”

On the surprise departure of İlkay Gündoğan:

“They haven’t told us the truth. He was the star signing of last year and when the pre-season started they said they were delighted with him. Then they told us it was for sporting reasons and they were paying him three months’ salary.”

On the fruitless chase of Athletic Club star Nico Williams:

“They tricked us with Nico Williams. At first they talked about him and then, at the end, they didn’t want to talk about names. When I said at that time that we couldn’t, they didn’t believe me. They believe the story of the club. Now, nobody believes the club.”
