Sunday morning and the newly updated Premier League form table.
Five matches played on Saturday.
Kicking off the action on Saturday was Newcastle United v Bournemouth.
Eddie Howe’s side never really getting going and after very early warnings, the Cherries taking a sixth minute lead
Bruno’s headed goal from a corner gave temporary hope but a killer goal just before the break rocked United.
A curious Saturday saw no Premier League teams win at home, four away victories and a 2-2 draw at the Emirates, as Arsenal threw away a two goal lead against Villa.
As Newcastle United fans, I thought you might fancy a glimpse at the newly updated Premier League form table this Sunday morning.
Here is the updated Premier League form table on Sunday (19 January 2025) morning, which covers the past six matches for all teams:
The last six PL results for Newcastle United with very latest one listed first:
Newcastle 1 Bournemouth 4
Newcastle 3 Wolves 0
Spurs 1 Newcastle 2
Newcastle 3 Aston Villa 0
Ipswich 0 Newcastle 4
NUFC with fifteen points from five wins, no draws and just the one defeat, with fifteen goals scored and five conceded.
I think sometimes a little bit of perspective is needed, on the days when things don’t go our way.
Newcastle United will actually go back to the very top of this Premier League form table, if Forest fail to beat Southampton today.
A couple of other observations.
It shows just how difficult it is to win Premier League matches on a regular basis, Newcastle and Forest each winning five of their six, Liverpool and Arsenal with four wins out of six, none of the other 16 PL clubs managing to win more than three of their last half dozen.
Also interesting to note, the top five in the Premier League form table, are actually also five of the top six in the full Premier League table, which you can see below.
This is how the full Premier League table currently now looks on Sunday 19 January 2025:
Southampton up next rock bottom in the full table and only one point from their last eight Premier League matches, ironically that was in a goalless draw away at Fulham, who Newcastle play next at home, after the Saints away.
Southampton only not bottom of the Premier League form table because Leicester have zero points, whilst the Saints actually only have two points from a possible last 33, losing nine and two draws in their most recent 11 PL matches.
United have a full week to prepare ahead of each of these next two Premier League matches, so the perfect chance to bounce back with six points to get NUFC back on track.
