There is no doubt that Lamine Yamal is one of the most exciting and promising talents that have come out of the FC Barcelona academy in the last few years.
The winger made himself a part of the first team at only 16 years of age, and currently, at 17 years of age, he is already a key part of Hansi Flick’s team.
In addition to his immense growth at the Blaugrana club, the youngster has also proven his talents at the international level with the Spanish national team, with whom he won the UEFA EURO 2024 only last summer.
Although there is no doubt about his quality, Yamal is still going through a goal drought in La Liga, as he has been unable to score in the league since last October, when he scored in the match against Real Madrid.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spanish national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, was also asked about his thoughts on this goal drought, after he addressed some students during his visit to a university in Spain.
The Spaniard urged his listeners to be more patient with a player as young as Yamal:
“He is still in full development; he is 17 years old, let’s not forget that. We must respect his growth and progress. Regardless of whether he scores or not, his level is extremely high, and he is a luxury for Spanish football.”

There is a lot of merit in De la Fuente’s words, as Yamal is still only a teenager, who has already exceeded the wildest expectations of most fans. Still, it is strange to see him not scoring in La Liga, especially as he has not faced such struggles in other competitions.
Hopefully, he will get over this drought in the coming few weeks, and go on to have a memorable season with Barcelona.
