If the 24/25 season has taught us anything, it is that this season is the end of a dominant run from Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side has taken all before them, but this season does appear to be a stretch too far for this City squad. Although, it must be said there is still plenty to play for before the 24/25 season comes to a close. But a new report indicates that a new Manchester City side is coming. But it may take time to develop based on the size of the rebuild required for this all-conquering Manchester City squad.
Guillem Balague has reported for the BBC on Manchester City’s recent crisis. There are plenty of interesting snippets to take from Balague’s well-researched piece. The first is that Pep Guardiola will use his two-year contract extension to build a new Manchester City. Another interesting snippet from Balague’s article is that five or six regular starters could depart the club next summer. That is no surprise based on just how quickly Manchester City’s 24/25 season has fallen apart.
But it is clear that a new City squad is coming. It is also apparent that Pep Guardiola is the right man to lead City’s rebuild. A host of players have reached the end of their illustrious City careers. That is a harsh thing to say but those are the facts of the matter. Perhaps the City hierarchy waited too long to start their rebuild and this situation we see now wouldn’t have occurred. But it has and now Manchester City’s future plans have become apparent.
A new Manchester City is coming under Pep Guardiola. That is an exciting proposition. Although it will take time to develop. But the ride that lies ahead will be an exciting one. It always is when a team as successful as Pep Guardiola’s side resets. What will be interesting to watch unfold is to see how the Premier League champions go about their rebuild. It’s a sizable task ahead but one that will interesting to watch unfold.
