One of the more consistent stories in recent weeks has surrounded the future of Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. The German international has been heavily linked with a potential move to Manchester City over the past few months. Now a new report indicates that City is emerging as the favourite to sign the German international if he does seek to leave Vincent Kompany’s next summer.
Pete O’Rourke has reported for footballinsider247.com that Manchester City are in pole position to sign Jamal Musiala. Furthermore, O’Rourke adds that so far Musiala has rejected Bayern’s offers of a new contract. Musiala’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 25/26 season. O’Rourke further reports that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation surrounding Jamal Musiala. Lastly, O’Rourke reports that Manchester City have a ‘war chest’ available to spend next summer after a big summer of sales last summer.
What is becoming apparent is that Jamal Musiala is fast emerging as Manchester City’s number-one target next summer. Pete O’Rourke’s latest report gives the impression that City are well placed to move for the German international. The longer Musiala’s contract saga drags on the more the situation plays into Manchester City’s hands.
What Jamal Musiala decides to do is a major story to monitor throughout the remainder of this season. If he doesn’t sign a new deal with Bayern then the deck appears stacked in the favour of any club that wants to move for him. Manchester City appear well-placed to be that club next summer. But that scenario is still a long way off from becoming a reality.
