A solid team display, combined with a pair of superb strikes, set SV Werder on course for their seventh away win of the current Bundesliga campaign. The mood in the Green-Whites’ camp was therefore very positive following the 3-0 victory. We’ve summed-up all the post-match reaction from today’s game.
Head coach Ole Werner: “The key to success was our very disciplined defensive showing. Even when things were rather tight, we defended to the last. We then also played some attractive football and scored a couple of special goals. All in all, it was a very successful afternoon’s work.”
Captain Marco Friedl: “I am very proud of these boys – full credit to the team today. We played with great focus, consistently getting into forward positions and remaining solid at the back. For that reason, we fully deserved the win. Seven games are left to play now and we want to get to 40 points as quickly as possible. We also have our personal targets we want to reach.”
Goalscorer Marvin Ducksch: “I spent a year-and-a-half in Kiel and my son also lives here so I am often visiting the city. I am pleased that I was able to get the ball rolling with my goal, which was just the start of a great performance. We defended very well and continually created chances so I am very happy with this win.”

Clemens Fritz: “We showed great concentration and maturity today so it was a deserved win. There were obviously periods where we dipped somewhat, but on the whole I can only compliment the team for the overall showing. We also showed glimpses of some really great play in possession but the intensity in our tackling and defending was super. You need that in order to get through the games here in Kiel, as they never make life easy. A number of teams have faltered here but we have a great performance.”
