Southampton keeper Aaron Ramsdale has been a great professional on the field. Impressively, his ex-teammate's remark indicates he carries his brilliant character off the field as well.

I am sure, as a Southampton fan, any signings from the Premier League's Big Six overjoys you. But at the same time, it intrigues us as to why the star player chose the Saints explicitly.

Now, don't get me wrong. No way, I try to demerit Southampton, but seeing the club's situation recently, a marquee move surprises one for sure.

Well, it was no different when the Saints signed former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale last summer. Naturally, it has been a hot-talked transfer since then.

In fact, even now, Ramsdale's decision to join Southampton leaves many confused. While some take it as a spat with boss Arteta, for others it was a desperate move after Arsenal signed David Raya.

Now, the exact reason remains unearthed, but what is certain is it wasn't the bitterness between Ramsdale and Raya.

This comes after the Gunners keeper recently opened up about his shared Arsenal time with Ramsdale. Safe to say, the duo have been in harmony forever.

Speaking to the Seaman Says Podcast(via TBR Football), Raya said: When I came I took the place, I never had a problem with Aaron and he never had a problem with me. If you have that good relationship you can push each other."

That is what great professionalism translates to. And the result? Raya has gone on to be Arsenal's reliable keeper, while Southampton has got a gem of a player in Aaron Ramsdale.

In fact, it won't feel wrong to say, Ramsdale has been the lone hero of Southampton at times. But, know what? Football is a team sport and the Saints need to reduce this overdependency on him if they are to succeed ahead.

Neglecting this, the club nears an unescapable relegation. Hope Southampton doesn't repeat the same mistake onwards.
