Leicester City released an official statement about the recent Abdul Fatawu injury. The statement came after Steve Cooper spoke to the press, confirming the rumours that Fatawu had become injured on international duty.

Representing Ghana on international duty, Fatawu has since returned to the King Power Stadium to be assessed and diagnosed with his current injury. Steve Cooper has revealed how long he expects Abdul Fatawu to be out for, in news which is not great for Leicester City fans.

What injury does Abdul Fatawu have?

Abdul Fatawu has an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. He was forced off the pitch in Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola - The same match which his Leicester teammate Jordan Ayew scored in.

When will Abdul Fatawu return from injury?

Given the injury is fresh, it is difficult to provide an exact timeframe. However, historical data of ACL injuries does not look great.

Steve Cooper expects Abdul Fatawu to be missing for the rest of the season as a minimum.

In his own words, Cooper said: "It’s not good, it’s a serious injury. He’s had an ACL injury which is going to rule him out for the rest of the season. It’s a real blow, first and foremost for him."

Who can replace Abdul Fatawu at Leicester City?

Thankfully, Steve Cooper has a very versatile attack. Abdul Fatawu plays on either the left or the right.

On the left, where he is favoured, Jamie Vardy, Jordan Ayew, Stephy Mavididi, Kasy McAteer, Odsonne Edouard or Bobby De Cordova-Reid could replace Adbul Fatawu.

Is Abdul Fatawu available for Fantasy Football?

No. Abdul Fatawu is unlikely to play this season, let alone at the weekend against Chelsea.
