Aberdeen are reportedly eager to bring Dylan McGeouch back to the Scottish Premiership from Sunderland.
Derek McInnes is keen to bolster his midfield options ahead of the Dons’ Europa League campaign, which starts next week.
According to the Sunderland Echo, Aberdeen have enquired about the Scotsman’s availability as they look to push through a quick deal.
The reason for Aberdeen’s eagerness to push through a potential move as fast as possible is the European deadline for signing players.
Although that has already expired, they can add a ‘wildcard’ option to their squad before Wednesday night.
They face Finnish side Rovaniemen Palloseura next Thursday at home in the first leg of their Europa League clash.
McGeouch has been a decent performer when fit for the Black Cats, making 30 appearances last season.
However, having lost his place towards the end of the season, he did admit that he would consider a summer move.
“I have a big decision to make,” he said. “It is disappointing. I haven’t played as much as I would have liked.”
That said, the former Celtic man has reported back to Wearside for pre-season training.
