Alex Jimenez is one of many former Real Madrid academy talents who have left the club to find success elsewhere.

In the case of Jimenez, the young right-back currently plies his trade with AC Milan – a club he joined last summer for a fee of around €5 million.

AC Milan were able to cut the valuation of Jimenez at the expense of Real Madrid holding a buy-back clause for the defender.

Despite the clause, however, Milan advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic is confident that the club will be able to keep hold of Jimenez in the long run.

Ibrahimovic on future of Alex Jimenez

In a recent interaction, Ibrahimovic confirmed that Real Madrid do indeed hold a buy-back clause for the fullback.

“Real Madrid have buyback clauses for Alex Jimenez but we have a good relationship with them,” he said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Ibrahimovic’s statement comes in the wake of recent reports that suggest Milan are keen on re-negotiating the terms of Jimenez’s buyback clause.

It appears the Rossineri are keen on holding on to the Spaniard, who has shown immense potential and has now become a regular in the first-team since the turn of the year.

When asked about potential negotiations between Real Madrid and Milan surrounding Jimenez’s buy-back clause, Ibrahimovic confirmed no talks have taken place.

“There are no negotiations now but we are happy with Alex. We trust him for the future, as I have always said,” he said.

While Ibrahimovic has confirmed that no talks have taken place, it appears only a matter of time before Milan approach Real Madrid and try to re-negotiate the terms of the clause.

That is where it will be interesting to see how Real Madrid look to play this one out.

The club desperately require a right-back, but everything suggests they are backing Trent Alexander-Arnold next summer, so whether or not they will activate the buyback clause for Jimenez remains to be seen.
