Alessandro Costacurta was left baffled by the toothless Inter Milan attack in the second half of yesterday’s draw with Napoli.

The legendary former AC Milan defender gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s performance on Sky Sport Italia, via TuttoMercatoWeb. He praised the first half, but was much harsher concerning the second.

Inter did certainly have their share of attacking intent in the first half of yesterday’s top-of-the-table showdown with Napoli.

The Nerazzurri were able to work the ball into the Partenopei box with some regularity.

There was a major penalty shout for a Scott McTominay push on Denzel Dumfries. And then moments later, Federico Dimarco put Inter ahead.

And Inter went in at the break with a deserved 1-0 advantage.

But then, the second half of the match was an utterly different story.

In the second half, Napoli came out aggressively.

The Partenopei looked to pen Inter back. And especially after the Nerazzurri lost Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu to injury, they rarely got out of their own half.

There was an onslaught on the Inter goal.

The Nerazzurri largely defended their penalty area near-perfectly.

But eventually, the Napoli pressure told. It was substitute Phillip Billing who found the equalizer for the home side.

Meanwhile, Inter could hardly make the ball stick in the final third.

Strikers Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, and Joaquin Correa failed to old the ball up.

After the match, AC Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta said that “In the first half Inter looked good to me.”

“They’d taken control of the match. That resulted in their goal.”

“Then after that, the match looked balanced to me,” Costacurta said.

The former defender praised “A great Napoli performance in the second half.”

“But the surprising thing is that from there, Inter didn’t have a corner, or a shot on goal. They didn’t even have a shot from outside the box.”

“What happened to them?” the former Rossoneri defender mused.
