It’s not often a team get to play against a side of the calibre of Bayern Munich twice within a week, but that’s what Celtic are in the midst of at the moment.

Also in the midst of the UEFA Champions League games against the Bundesliga giants is this Saturday’s SPFL clash against Dundee United at Celtic Park, and it’s a game in which the Hoops aim to strengthen their tight grip at the top of the table.

Since Wednesday’s close defeat to the German outfit, attention has turned to this weekend’s match, and, at today’s media conference, striker Adam Idah spoke of the days since then.

The Irishman said: “It’s been good. It was a tough game but I thought we did well overall.

“We knew it was going to be tough. They’re obviously a top team, one of the best in the world, but I thought we put up a good fight and we’re still in this tie and it’s a big one on Tuesday.”

The last 20 minutes of the 2-1 defeat saw Brendan Rodgers' side come within a whisker of taking at least a point from the game and oozed a self-assurance that will stand them in good stead.

Idah added: “I think it’s just that confidence and belief going into these big games that we can go toe-to-toe with the big teams. It’s just going out and actually doing it and proving it.

‘The last 15 or 20 minutes were really good, it was good for us and all the fans that backed us.’

"So everyone is looking forward to Tuesday, we’re still in it and we’re looking forward to it.”

Before that, though, there is the first versus third encounter in the SPFL tomorrow (Saturday), and Idah has praised the experienced members of the squad for aiding him in coping with the tournament switch.

He said: “Possibly at the start of the season, I found it quite tough going from Champions League back to league games, but having the experienced boys in the group really helps – the likes of Cal, Greg and Jamesy – they help you get through it.

‘It’s the goal at every game - we want to win games, and we want to go out and perform well.’

“So, at the end of the day, like I said there, we all have the same goal and we want achieve the same thing.

“It can be tough, but you have to go through it and it’s a game of football at the end of the day, and you want to win those games.”
