Kortrijk’s Abdelkahar Kadri lined up alongside Charleroi’s Adem Zorgane for Algeria as the Fennec Foxes drew 0-0 with Tanzania in Annaba. The draw saw both sides qualify for the upcoming tournament in Cote d’Ivoire, meaning both Belgian sides are likely to be without their star players during January and parts of February. Algeria will be one of the favourites for the tournament and be expected to make a deep run.
The North African side finished top of their qualification group with five wins and one draw from their six games. The side only conceded twice and scored nine goals in the process. Tanzania needed a point to qualify, meaning Uganda miss out despite their win over Niger. Union St Gilloise’s new striker Mohamed Amoura came off the bench to play the final 22 minutes of the match.
For Tanzania, Novatus Miroshi was their star player. The Zulte Waregem utility player is currently on loan at Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.
