Frustrated and angry after defeat at home against Angers SCO (0-1), Adi Hütter appeared at a press conference.

He would certainly have another outcome for his 50th on the Monaco bench. Lacking success against a low Angevin block, the Rouge et Blanc in fact lost at home at the Stade Louis-II (0-1). It was an unfavorable scenario which coach Adi Hütter tried to explain in a press conference in front of journalists.🎙️

I have already answered several questions about our ability to compete and beat PSG but we must know how to be humble. We have qualities but we always have to fight for 90 minutes because that's football. All the teams want to beat us. We did not defend well, as we could do in the first weeks. We must get back to basics we will find success again.

Good evening coach. Is this the worst game of the season?

Yes, it is. We were missing everything, especially in the first half. Angers played a good game tonight but I repeat, we missed everything. We must apologize to the fans for this first half. We will have to analyze this.

I have already answered several questions about our ability to compete and beat PSG but we must know how to be humble. We have qualities but we always have to fight for 90 minutes because that’s football. All the teams want to beat us. We did not defend well, as we could do in the first weeks. We must get back to basics we will find success again.

Do you think your players could have underestimated this team?

Yesterday, when we did the analysis work, we were clear with my players. We showed them their latest results and they could see that they were in good form with two draws in Marseille and Toulouse, as well as a victory against Saint-Etienne last week. I told them that they had to be careful and not underestimate them because they play good football. That was the case tonight and Angers deserved to win this match.

Why did the 4-4-2 work less well?

We made this decision to play with two up front in order to have more attacking players in the opponent’s box. Unfortunately, what we were did was too undangerous, slow and it lacked rhythm. We also wanted to bring confidence to George so he could score, but it didn’t work. We then made the decision to take him off for Eliesse, and put Taki’ in support of Breel as a second striker.

What should we say to the players after a match like this?

I always talk to my players about their performances and tonight we can’t accept that. We have to find our strengths, our style of play and our identity, that’s what we lacked in the first half especially. There was a problem with our pressing, we had no ideas with the ball and we played slow football.

We have taken one point out of nine in the last three games, it is too little. We are guilty of this, we have not always been able to keep our emotions under control. Today, we were missing five players (Zakaria, Salisu, Balogun, Vanderson and Teze) but this is not an excuse because I am convinced that we should have beaten Angers with this squad

The defense was also disorganized at times. It’s very difficult to find the right words but it’s a big disappointment, our second in a week. We have to stay united and be combative. My job is to find solutions but we can’t have lost our style of play in a week.

This is the first time you have lost two games in a row on the bench at AS Monaco. How do you feel?

We have taken one point out of nine in the last three games, it is too little. We are guilty of this, we have not always been able to keep our emotions under control. Today, we were missing five players (Zakaria, Salisu, Balogun, Vanderson and Teze) but this is not an excuse because I am convinced that we should have beaten Angers with this squad and this quality on the pitch.

Is Denis Zakaria’s absence one of the reasons for this defeat?

Denis is very important, he is our stabilizer, our captain and has a significant impact. We miss him but we have to find other solutions as a team. I repeat; it was really a bad performance, the worst of the season. Respect to Angers for this victory, and on our side, we have to bounce back as quickly as possible.
