ATK Mohun Bagan suffered a major blow during their 4-2 loss to Gokulam Kerala FC in their opening game of the AFC Cup 2022 on Wednesday, 18 May after losing their key defender, Tiri to injury during the clash.

Tiri who is a key player for ATK Mohun Bagan sustained an injury while going into a tackle with Gokulam Kerala striker, Luka Majcen inside the box and had to be stretchered out in the 39th minute due to extreme pain.

It has now emerged that the Spaniard will miss at least seven weeks of action due to a knee injury as confirmed by an ATK Mohun Bagan official.

"He (Tiri) has suffered an ACL tear that will take at least seven to eight weeks to recover," the ATK Mohun Bagan official said as per Times of India.

ATK Mohun Bagan head coach, Juan Ferrando had no choice but to bring in Ashutosh Mehta as a replacement and his loss due to an injury played a big part in the Mariners shipping in four goals on the night.

The 30-year-old who has played for Cadiz and the Atletico Madrid B side in the past, has established himself as a key player under Ferrando ever since signing for them in September 2020.
